A warm, friendly welcome awaits you at Hinam Farm on Exmoor, a family run working farm situated in the picturesque Barle Valley near Dulverton within the Exmoor National Park.
Surrounding our pasture meadows are ancient woodlands for you to enjoy, with the River Barle flowing past us on its meandering journey from above the famous Tarr Steps and on through the pretty little town of Dulverton.
Both destinations are accessible via an enjoyable walk through our woodlands. If you enjoy horse riding we have a choice of two excellent riding schools close by, one of which Pine Lodge Stables comes particularly recommended and we would be happy to arrange this for you. Wimbleball Lake, another local attraction, is also easily accessible for your enjoyment as are the pretty seaside towns of Lynton and Lynmouth and the market town of South Molton.
Also close by are Dunkery Beacon and The West Somerset Steam Railway.
We have a traditional herd of pedigree Red Ruby Devon cattle which calve during the months of April, May and June and can be seen playing together in the fields.
We also have a sheep flock of mules. We lamb during April which is our busiest but most enjoyable time of the year for us, with all the new calves and lambs being born. There is plenty of bottle feeding for our younger visitors or anyone who enjoys a hands on experience.
Our meadows are frequented by Red Deer all your round but especially at rutting time during October. You may even see our local wild life expert and TV personality Johnny Kingdom on one of his safaris!
From the farm lane you can look across the valley to the ancient archaeological site, Mounsey Castle, with other archaeological interests within the valley.
The farm itself is full of history and was used as a base for a spotlight during World War II, with troops being billeted here.
Hinam Farm on Exmoor is a great base for walkers, hikers and wildlife enthusiasts with lots of sightings of birds of prey such as Buzzards and Owls and for those quiet enough, you may even spot rabbits and small mammals.
You can enjoy delicious home cooked food, tea whilst enjoying the stunning scenery, watch the nearby Donkeys and you may even see the beautiful Peacocks.
We look forward to seeing you!
